Licensed Professional Fiduciary and National Certified Guardian

Rebecca has been practicing law for over twenty-five years, and has guided many clients through challenging life transitions. The majority of her professional life she worked as an attorney, where she helped clients with marriage dissolution, child custody, paternity, as well as preparing antenuptial and post-nuptial agreements. In addition to working as a family law attorney, she also worked as a family law mediator, parenting consultant and custody evaluator providing expert testimony as to children’s best interests in divorce proceedings. She also assists clients with child-centered parenting plans that encompass unique family structures involving complex parenting issues.

Many of Rebecca’s clients have had difficult property issues, including valuing closely held businesses, diving stock options, tracing non-marital values in marital assets, as well as preparing cash flow analysis for family support.

Rebecca’s law practice also included Collaborative Law clients, all of whom have chosen to focus on settlement rather than litigation. In these cases, Rebecca strived to promote peaceful resolutions to conflicts whenever possible so as not to increase the financial and emotional costs to the families she assisted.

Rebecca has been an active member in the Collaborative Law Institute, the West Metro Collaborative Professionals, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. She was among the first collaborative professionals in the world and has been a Collaborative Family Law attorney for 18 years and is a member of the Collaborative Law Institute since its inception. She encourages clients to use the collaborative model whenever possible when resolving all disputes in order to attain a sense of empowerment as well as a vehicle for achieving a more emotionally balanced and fiscally sound outcome for both themself and the family as a whole.

Rebecca is a member of the national Christian Lawyers Society and the Christian lawyers, where she has been on the board for over ten years. This alliance maintains a commitment to practicing law with values akin to their Christian faith.

Rebecca obtained her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University. She earned her Juris Doctor from Mitchel Hamline School of Law. During law school, she did a judicial intern with the chief juvenile law judge, the Honorable Allen Oleisky, in Hennepin County District Court in Minnesota. She completed her Juris Doctorate degree in December of 1990, and she was admitted into the Bar in May of 1991.

Immediately following graduation, Rebecca began practicing law in the area of family law, estate planning, and probate. She also was a part-time public defender in Dakota County. She also worked as Guardian Ad Litem, where her role was to represent the best interest of children. After practicing law for over two years, she taught as an adjunct professor at Winona State University in the criminal justice program for two years. Later, she expended her career to include civil mediation. She assisted Brown County District Court in Green Bay, Wisconsin train mediators for a conciliation mediation program.

Rebecca strives to provide exceptional guidance and education to each one of her clients whether they involved in a collaborative case, whether she is acting as their mediator or whether she is advocating for them in litigation. Whatever professional capacity she is working in, the focus is to provide assistance to her clients in order to attain the overall best outcome for her client and her client’s family.
